Landmark Case:

City of Houston v. Kallina

Fourteenth Court of Appeals, Houston: The Appellate Court ruled to award the Plaintiff $314,710 in back pay under Whistleblower statutes, Tex. Government Code sec. 554.003(c). The trial court had improperly capped the jury's award for back-pay at $64,717. Non-pecuniary & future-pecuniary damages were capped at $250,000 for the Plaintiff. Past-pecuniary damages have no applicable caps, therefore, the trial court's judgment was modified to increase the amount of actual damages awarded to the Plaintiff, against the City of Houston.
